Yevheniia observing paintings

Reality always contains more than we are able to perceive at first.
Through art, our capacity to experience reality can expand.

A Way of Seeing

Fundamental Belief

  • Every artwork contains more than any single interpretation.
  • Its meaning is never fixed.
  • It emerges through every encounter.

Manifesto

  • We rarely experience reality in its fullness.
  • Attention, memory, expectation and experience shape what becomes visible.
  • Painting cannot change reality.
  • But it can transform the way we encounter it.
  • Every painting is an invitation to pause.
  • To remain long enough for something more to become visible.
  • I do not create meaning.
  • I create the conditions in which meaning can emerge.
  • Each encounter is unique.
  • Each viewer completes the work differently.
  • Art is not separate from life.
  • It is another way of entering reality.
  • If a painting allows someone to leave with a deeper experience of the world than they had before, then it has already fulfilled its purpose.
